Principal's Welcome from Caroline Robertson

Principal's Welcome from Caroline Robertson

It is with great pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to all students, whānau and staff to the vibrant community of Chilton Saint James School.

I am honoured to lead a school that is committed to providing an exceptional learning environment where each student is encouraged to discover their unique potential.

At Chilton Saint James, we foster a culture of excellence and we empower our students to excel and develop into confident, and compassionate young people.

Why Chilton?

Chilton students can chose to work towards achievement in the national New Zealand qualification, the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA).

NCEA is nationally and globally recognised as a robust qualification. Our NCEA offering is diverse and will continue to grow.

The CAIE curriculum sets a global standard for education and is recognised by universities and employers worldwide.

The curriculum is flexible, challenging, inspiring, culturally sensitive and international in approach.

Cambridge students develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning.

Participants also gain the essential skills they need for success at tertiary level and in their future careers.

The Performing Arts programme is an integral part of the Chilton experience with students encouraged to attend speech, drama and musical classes.

Our Primary, Middle and Secondary Schools
offer music, drama and dance in all their forms.

Our skilled and dedicated music and performing arts teachers offer students a wide range of arts and music activities and cater to a wide spectrum of interests.

Chilton is known for its commitment to academic excellence, holistic education, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our culture emphasizes not only academic success, but also the growth of well-rounded young girls. Students are supported to excel in the arts, sports, culture and community service.

Students are empowered to embrace leadership roles, and there is a sense of camaraderie that extends beyond the classroom, creating a memorable and positive lifelong love of learning.

Our campus is encased in beautiful trees and gardens that provide a backdrop for the century-old main building that our founder Geraldine FitzGerald provided.

A key benefit in attending Chilton is the small class sizes.

Our skilled and experienced teachers have time to focus on the learning of each student in the class. Whether it is in our Preschool or Senior School, each student receives tuition from specialist trained teachers in a warm and welcoming class environment.

All of our classrooms are setup with modern furniture and technology which allows teachers to effectively deliver the curriculum to students.

All students have access to extensive outdoor spaces including playgrounds, sports fields, heated swimming pool, covered all weather turf, science labs, dance studios, music suites, theatre, gymnasium and fitness studio.

With over 75 teams across summer and winter sports, there really is something for everyone. At Chilton we acknowledge the importance of providing every student with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of sports throughout their schooling and we realise the benefits that can come from playing sport for school and with their peers.

Students at Chilton have access to a range of sports facilities including a heated swimming pool, covered turf courts, soccer field, gymnasium and fitness centre.
