Amazing news this week for one of our sporting gems at Chilton. We have great pleasure in announcing that Darae Chung has been selected in the NZ National Academy as a Phase 3 golfer – the highest Amateur level in the country. At phase 3 there are 2 tiers. Darae is at tier two which means she has shown amazing potential and now has the opportunity to work harder on her game and close some developmental gaps in her game. She is now well on her way to representing New Zealand at senior level or turning professional.
Words from Darae:
I started golf when I was 9 years old in 2014. I think it can be safe to say that before this time I didn’t like golf that much but after I happened to join a club tournament by chance, everything became different on my view of golf. I started developing a passion for the game and every time I felt like I could’ve been better or did not perform well in a tournament, I worked harder and harder. This is where I could improve faster in a short period of time. As I kept on working on honing my skills, opportunities came and I managed to grab them and prove my ability to New Zealand golf. So now I am at one of the most important times of my life where I can work on my golf to go to the next step which is the professional circuit. Though this is a good achievement of my career thus far, this is only a small step to go up even further. I’d like to thank everyone at Chilton for giving me unconditional support and help me when I need it.
