Kelsi Stanyon published as Young Writers Competition Finalist

Kelsi Stanyon (Year 11)  and Ainsley Burr (Year 12) entered the Young Writers Competition earlier this year where they were both successful finalists. Both girls have since had their story officially published in the YNZW Anthology! Read the message from Kelsi below for more info.

“Earlier this year I entered into my first writing competition, this was the Young Writers competition. This is a nationwide competition with a theme of scary tales; the requirement was to write a story no longer than 1,200 words. It turned out that I had got into the finalists along with about sixty five others out of thousands of entries with great comments from the judges! My story was published in the Young writers anthology which is a book with all of the other finalists and winners in it. The title of my story is Together and is about two girls that get badly bullied at school (not based on my real experiences).

“From campfire tales to apocalyptic futures, these chilling bite-sized stories expose our underlying fears, both real and imagined, unsettling to downright terrifying, and all dripping from the pens of our new blood in dark fiction.” (From the blurb at the back of the anthology.) I have recently entered into my second writing competition, the Smart Alex competition and I am waiting eagerly to receive word of the results!”
