It has been another busy week in Middle School as we get closer to Christmas. The Year 9 students have been preparing for their camp in Kaiteriteri and we wish them smooth sailing on the ferry on Monday morning and wonderful, sunny weather for the week. I am positive that they will have a great time in this beautiful part of New Zealand.
Students involved in aerobics put on a display for Middle School and staff during lunchtime on Wednesday. There are some videos and stills of their performances in this Bulletin. They looked incredibly polished and strong which has come from consistent practice and commitment to their training. We wish them the very best for the upcoming championships.
I popped into the 7C Soft Materials Technology class yesterday and they were making fabulous creations for their ‘Project Runway’ work. The girls were fully engaged and enjoying their work. It was a real pleasure to talk to them about what they were making and see their creative flair. It is always a highlight to visit classrooms and see what students are learning and even better when they are so comfortable and confident speaking about it as well. You can look forward to seeing photos of their creations next week.
We have our Middle School Movie Night tonight in the Middle School Meeting Room from 3.45-6pm, organised by Kaylyn Wang and Teija Joronen to raise money for ‘Insulin for Life’. The girls have planned carefully and taken charge of every aspect to make it a success. It is a credit to these students that they have put the initiative and hard mahi into this event to make a real difference in others’ lives.
I am always impressed with the willingness of Chilton students to be outward focused, looking for opportunities to help others in a myriad of ways.

The Year 8 classes have been looking at the use of ‘One Point Perspective’ within their work. This began with the beautiful desert scenes which were completed earlier in the year depicting levitating boxes. These images using an interior scene has stretched the students skills and made them consider a much greater degree of detail when applying the rules of one point perspective. Students could depict any interior scene that they wished. The students chose to show bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, even prison cells and also some very creative surreal interiors.
Check out the Aerobics girls who showed us their routine at lunchtime on Wednesday. The images and video below are of Hebe Lin, Izzy Lewis & Willa Velvin from Year 7.
This was Mrs Pollard’s first Principal’s Assembly and she delivered a great speech about connections, and encounters of the third kind ?. There were multiple awards for very deserving students who have achieved very highly within the school, some great performances on the piano and violin.
Year 10’s in action this week in Physical Education participating in some boot-camp type activities using tyres and then having fun with the Kin Ball.
Our year 10 class had the privilege of producing a guide on how to survive junior years (7-9) This was a very entertaining experience for us, which made us all reflect on our past struggles, and what advice we would give to our former selves.

In Language Club, we have been making piñatas during Term 3 & the beginning of Term 4 and have just had the bashing open ceremony today at lunchtime.
Here are some fantastic shots form our latest Kapa Haka practice with Whaea Maggie .
