Chilton Welcomes Kate Pollard

Dear Chilton whānau

I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Kate Pollard as the new Principal of Chilton Saint James School. Kate joins us at the beginning of Term 4.

Kate is currently an Assistant Principal at Kristin School in Auckland, one of the larger and most highly-regarded independent schools in New Zealand.  Kate has been in a leadership role there for a number of years and integral to the success of various initiatives and projects across the school.  Kate has previously been a teacher and tutor at Kristin and a teacher at Glenfield Intermediate.

Kate earned her Bachelor of Education from Auckland University and is nearing the end of her Masters in Educational Leadership.  She is passionate about independent education and being at the forefront of this ever-changing and innovative landscape.

After a rigorous and extensive recruitment process both here in New Zealand and internationally, Kate most impressed the Principal Recruitment Committee with her passion for education, her desire to keep learning and challenging herself, but most particularly her genuine commitment to student outcomes and well-being.  Her enthusiasm and ability to bring people together was evident throughout the process and from our tour of Chilton, and these attributes will allow her to be a strong role model for our students, a community-builder and a collaborative leader of the team.

Kate is married to Scott, the owner of a successful family business, and they have a 4 year-old son, Sutton.  We look forward to Kate’s commencement and the chance to introduce her in person to the Chilton community!
