Tena koutou katoa,
Ko te tumanako i pai ki a koe nga whakaahua ka whai ake o to wiki.
(We hope you enjoy the following snapshots of our week).

For te wiki o te reo Māori week the Penguins enjoyed singing their favourite waiata and learning Māori names for feelings. Tiny Tim is one of the Penguin’s favourite waiata; they love singing about the mirumiru (bubbles) and the big pako (pop) at the end!

For te wiki o te reo Māori, the Maui’s enjoyed listening to the books Anei ke! (Here it is!) and Taku Mokai (My pet). Together we recalled the names of the animals in te reo and NZ sign language too.

The Maui children also enjoyed playing ‘Kei a wai?’ (Who has it?). They can identify some of the colours in te reo Māori and are learning the Māori names for shapes.

The Keas enjoyed practicing colours in Te reo Māori this week. In keeping with our letter of the week we coloured rainbows. Here are Taylor and Henry’s creations!
Kea Waiata:
E te Atua, aroha mai, O God love us
E te Atua, aroha mai,
E te Atua, aroha mai.
Ake, ake tonu e. forever and ever, Amen
Ake, ake tonu e.

It was very convenient that te wiki o te reo Māori week coincided with our letter of the week this week – the letter ‘M’! We have explored many Te reo Māori based activities this week; learning the names for our tinana, a new greeting song, Haere Mai, te reo Māori words for shapes and reminding ourselves of how to count in te reo Māori. In the pictures above, we are listening to the story about how Maui slowed the sun, one of our favourites, as we all know Maui from the wonderful movie ‘Moana’.
Kotare Karakia:
Whakapai, ēnei kai Bless this food
Hei oranga mō ō mātou tinana For the goodness of our bodies
Amine Amen

Kia pai te mutunga o te wiki (have a great weekend everyone)!
