Preschool Weekly Bulletin – 3 December

Penguin

The Penguins have been so excited to start getting into the Christmas spirit this week. We got to decorate our class Christmas tree and have been learning to be gentle with it while we explore by redecorating it with baubles throughout the day.

Maui

The Maui children have been getting so excited about Christmas this week! We made star ornaments and decorated our Christmas tree. We all gathered around our tree and sang Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Red Red Coat, then we counted down from 10 and lit the Christmas tree. We also made gingerbread biscuits and decorated them ourselves.

Kea

The Kea children have been busy getting ready for the Preschool Christmas Party.

We made cards for Santa, baked Christmas cookies and decorated our classroom.

Kotare

Making the transition to Primary School is a very special and much anticipated time for our Kotare children. This year we have thirteen tamariki leaving us to embark on the next phase of their learning journey!

As part of this right of passage, we celebrate each departing Kotare with a ‘Jump Up’ ceremony. Each child has the chance to share their learning with friends and whānau, and is presented with a certificate and gift from us. We honour each child’s unique contribution as they wear the Kotare korowai and ask their friends to offer them ‘wishes’ for their future. And of course, there is the chance to Jump Up from a chair, which faces in the direction of wherever their Primary school is located. This week we have had celebrations for Ian Wu, Gus Bayliss, Murphey Wu, and Hasri Patel. Well done Kotare birds, you are all ready to fly!

Today we held what is arguably the most eagerly anticipated event of the year for your children – the Christmas Party! Please keep an eye on Storypark to see all of the exciting things we experienced ???
