Last week, Year 0 girls were Chilton ambassadors demonstrating our values of inclusivity and respect, as they welcomed and looked after our visitors during their Transition visits. They demonstrated that they were willing and able, both to welcome new girls and to renew friendships with old friends.
Out in the playground they enjoyed sharing in the excitement as they explored the play equipment and all its challenges together.
There was a happy hum in the room as the girls worked and played together. Our visitors also enjoyed watching some of the rehearsal for “The Snow Queen”, and joined the Te Reo class and Junior Assembly.

In Year 2 we have been exploring Part-Whole Thinking and how many different addition and subtraction strategies can be applied to problems in Mathematics.
Here is Iris using the Adding Ones and Tens Strategy.
We love being challenged by numbers in Year 2!

Collaboration in the classroom can help students think more deeply and creatively about a subject and develop more empathy for others’ perspectives. Through collaborative learning, skills such as decision making, flexibility and problem-solving come to the fore.
We have had to practice our communication and collaboration skills a lot lately not only for our production but also for our everyday experiences in the classroom and playground. We have learnt about the importance of being kind to each other, listening to others and ensuring people feel included. This has also been a theme in our Primary Chapel this week.
Here we are working together practicing these skills as we have fun and play a friendly game of UNO together.

We have had such a busy, yet exciting week – from leading the Year 4 assembly to filming the Snow Queen! The Year 4 assembly was very successful.
Here is some feedback from the Year 4s about their week:
Tegan: I am tired but excited. I felt proud to be Kaj and have a lead role.
Charlotte: We are very tired and we did so well with the Snow Queen. I feel happy and good that we filmed the Snow Queen.
Chloe Lin: I am very happy and I enjoyed dressing up for the Snow Queen. I loved it when Mrs Pollard watched our performance!
Chloe Cao: It has been a very fun week because of Snow Queen. I was very nervous.
Gurleen: I was nervous, but it was fun having an audience for the Snow Queen.

Wow what an amazing week we have had. The Year 6 girls continue to impress with their leadership skills, initiative and kindness. This week I was reminded of a quote from Libby our Sports Captain ‘you miss hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.’ And Year 6 have been shooting for the stars.
We have continued with financial literacy, reading comprehension and we’ve even worked on symmetry through Rangoli pictures.
The major focus has been the Snow Queen and they girls were incredible.
We are looking forward to finishing our time in Primary with more successes, happiness and gratitude.

Despite some twists and turns in our preparation due to lockdown and remaining in Level 2 the Primary production of The Snow Queen was a real triumph!
Originally destined to be on stage at the Little Theatre, we had to instead make a movie, due to Covid restrictions.
The girls acted, sang and danced their hearts out as they weaved the tale of Gerda in her quest to find Kaj, who was in the clutches of the evil Snow Queen.
Each Primary family will receive a copy of the movie, once edited to enjoy at home. Thank you to the Parents’ Association for their subsidising this.
Special thanks to Lindsey Rusling, drama extraordinaire, who directed The Snow Queen. We are excited about our show in 2022!
The Snow Queen is proudly sponsored by Abode Air Conditioning Limited.
