Year 0

In Mathematics Year 0 has been discovering the challenges of working on Rangoli patterns.

We looked at an example of a grid that was already coloured. We found that there were patterns going across the grid and also down it.

Next, we were given a prepared grid to colour using our own colour choices and making sure that we showed the different patterns.

We coloured in the prepared grids

Our final challenge was to show creativity and the ability to generalise in our thinking. We were trying to think at the extended abstract level. This time, we were given a simple grid of dots which we had to join to make our own pattern. After creating that, we coloured it in to highlight our pattern choices.

Technology Inquiry
Toys can be effective tools to make us feel comfortable and calm.

This week we made connections with last term’s Inquiry about emotions when we explored how toys can make us feel happy when we may be feeling sad or lonely. We got to make our very own soft toy as part of our Technology Inquiry this term.

We had to learn sewing techniques such as the blanket stitch and we did a lot of problem solving along the way! It was so much fun!

Fun with Fractions!

Year 2 has been learning about Fractions. This week used paper pizzas to support our understanding of 1 whole, 1 half, 1 third, 1 quarter and 1 eighth. By the end of this activity we were VERY hungry but were super excited when Miss LJ told us we are actually going to make real pizzas next week as part of our fractions learning – we can’t wait! Yum!

Year 4

What a week we’ve had! We had our amazing Sports and Arts Awards this week and I am so proud of all of the girls for their effort in sports and arts this year.

We have been continuing to work on our stop-motion filming, with a lot of very excited year 4’s working to create some cinematic masterpieces. We are all very excited for the CHOSCARs next week.

Chloe C: I’m feeling great about my stop motion film. My group is working really well together.

Lucy: Our stop motion is good. We have learnt we need to take a lot of photos so it goes slower.

Sofie: Stop motion is the best thing ever! It actually is.

Olivia: Stop motion is really fun and it’s the best!

Aarzoo: Stop motion is so fun and a really good way to start making movies.

Year 6

The end of Primary is nigh…

The Year 6 girls are having a delightful reflective time and are reminiscing on all of their friendships, learning opportunities and celebrating the time they have had in Primary.

Over the past couple of weeks, the girls have made memory boards which displays and expresses their time in Primary. The boards have a wonderful variety from their highlights, to funniest moment, to a quality selfie. The girls are looking forward to their next step and moving on with the knowledge they can rise to any challenge. Kia Kaha Year 6.
