Our Curriculum - Dual Pathway

The Senior School curriculum provides a comprehensive and enriching educational experience. Grounded in academic excellence, our curriculum encompasses a wide range of subjects, offering students the flexibility to explore their interests while ensuring a solid foundation in core disciplines.

The senior school places a strong emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent research, preparing students not only for academic success but also for the challenges they will encounter in higher education and beyond.

In Years 12 – 13 Chilton offers a dual pathway where students can choose between NCEA and Cambridge International education.

Other Information

The wellbeing program for senior students is a robust and comprehensive framework, underpinned by the expertise of professional and qualified psychologists. Recognizing the importance of mental and emotional health, the school has prioritized a holistic approach to student wellbeing. The support of qualified clinical psychologists ensures that students have access to confidential and professional support, fostering an environment where their emotional and psychological needs are addressed with care and expertise. Regular sessions and awareness programs contribute to building resilience and coping skills among senior students. Our approach not only focuses on intervention but also places a strong emphasis on prevention, promoting a proactive approach to mental health. By integrating professional psychological support into the fabric of the school, we are committed to creating a supportive and nurturing environment where senior students can flourish academically, emotionally, and socially.

At Chilton cultivating inquiring minds is a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. We believe that senior students are at a stage where curiosity and critical thinking should be not only encouraged but celebrated. Our curriculum is designed to spark intellectual curiosity, challenging students to ask probing questions, explore complex ideas, and engage deeply with their studies. The senior school environment fosters an atmosphere where students are not passive recipients of information but active participants in their own learning journey. Beyond the classroom, our commitment to inquiring minds extends to research projects, discussions, and extracurricular activities that encourage students to explore and analyze the world around them. By nurturing inquiring minds, we aim to equip senior students with the skills and mindset needed for a lifetime of learning, innovation, and meaningful contributions to society.

Sports play a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and healthy school community. The senior program is designed to cater to a diverse range of interests and skill levels, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to participate. From competitive team sports like soccer, basketball, and netball to individual pursuits such as track and field, aerobics, and tennis, Chilton encourages a well-rounded approach to physical activity. The school’s state-of-the-art sports facilities including all weather tennis, hockey and netball courts provide an excellent platform for students to hone their skills and showcase their talents.  The robust sports culture at Chilton not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and school spirit among students, contributing to a memorable and enriching high school experience.

Students at Chilton are encouraged to explore their creative passions through art classes, music ensembles, drama productions, and literary pursuits.  Regular art exhibitions, musical performances, and theatrical productions showcase the students’ talents, providing a platform for them to share their creativity with the broader school community. The emphasis on arts and culture at Chilton not only enriches the academic experience but also cultivates a sense of imagination, critical thinking, and cultural awareness among students, preparing them to become well-rounded creative thinkers.
